1) if he want to build a Bitcoin that is proof of stake, just do it. No one is stopping you, if it is better people will adopt it

2) proof of stake is far worse, and negates the problem that Bitcoin solves, byzantine generals problem

3) Bitcoin miners are incentivized to use energy that he would say is approved, it makes them more money
