Yes - client auth seems to be the beginning of actually being able to charge for use as far as I can tell.

My problem is the current NIP-42 forces you to open the websocket connection first which makes absolutely no sense for a private relay.

I would like to see auth in a header instead.

Considering the outgoing events served from snort relay then i would need to charge :

- 130,000,000 events per day

- Cost 9.60 EUR / day

- 0.072 EUR / 1M events / day

If 1k people are paying the same amount:

- 9.60 is ~ 40k sats

- Each person would pay 40 sats / day

- Their quota would be 1/1000 of the current capacity of 130,000 events per day

- 40 sats = 130k events

Seems crazy cheap tell me im wrong

sats send in advance already

all or combo willwork

Cool data - definitely “feels” cheap.

I’d be curious to see what something like this looks like on a paid relay. I’ll take a look at this on nostr.wine when I get a chance for comparison.

I use nostr-rs-relay so we have some metrics about events sent out over websocket, I recently added a change to ignore massive tag queries that is why the number is lower now
