From what I can tell, just from what I have read over the years, some of the biggest names in the global government conspiracy narrative like the Illuminati, the Freemasons, and the Templars, had absolutely nothing to do with any of that in the beginning. The Illuminati was an underground anti-monarchy political movement. The Freemasons were an early trade union. And the Templars were a security force for hire which wound up being owed so much money by the King of France that he labeled them all as apostates of the Church so he could burn them instead of pay them.

This is not to say that organizations with that level of secrecy and wealth were not infiltrated by some very unsavory people with creepy ass plans. But its interesting that many things dont start out that way. Its just that the parasitic class are attracted to power and secrecy like a moth to a flame. Or the Nazgul to the Ring.
