One could argue freedom doesn't need to be taken. Freedom is the default, the natural state.
A priori it being the natural state, freedom can only be inhibited by others if they do choose to act in such a way that obstructs your abilities to choose.

Agreed, especially in an ultimate, fundamental, abstract, or metaphysical sense. However, speaking practically, nature is bound by the law of necessity and it's incumbent upon man to transmute that into freedom through directed action.
