We all know CPI data is crap. One doesn’t often hear shrinkflation talked about in the cpi calculation. My basket of goods only increased by 10% this year but the contents decreased 20%. Inflation was 30% not 10%

The CPI is a technique for obfuscating the effects of money printing. They can manipulate this imaginary basket of goods whichever way suits them, and then report back to you that everything is okay. It's so they can sleep at night, and we don't ask questions. That's my take.
