I don't have an opinion about OP_CAT, I just like his philosophy that bitcoin isn't just a set of undirected affordances that are defined by what people use it for
After listening to this I felt pretty ambivalent toward OP_CAT. Seems like it is a pretty conservative step forward and anything less is just nothing at all. But I'm no core dev. /shrug
