If the freedom and opportunities it gives you access to outweigh the financial burden and risks then yes it is worth it
In the USA that’s a yes for most people except certain cities
tbh the urban planning in the US is heavily curated towards purchasing a car, it’s intentional

It is a huge country, out west there are places literally 500km from anyone or anything.

Public infrastructure is great and we should improve it but in this land we need need personal vehicles regardless
