Hard disagree here. Base M1 Pro is the best hardware on its tier regardless of OS choice.

Also OpenBSD sucks as desktop OS. I get it. I would run Xenocara on early 2000s hardware but aside from anything that needs PF, Relayd or HTTPd it’s a LARPer operating system.
