Since #[0] is Brazilian wouldn’t we pronounce nostr like the Brazilian Portuguese word of Nos, meaning us… I’ve always assumed the name is a word play right? friendster / flickr are like service of friends, or service of flick (picture), so nos-tr is like protocol of/for us, right?

nostr has a few connotations
I think it is but my memory is not reliable. If this was really Portuguese we would have to be "nós" though.
Might not have been intentional but it might have a subconscious association. Also lots of the time we drop the accents when writing and programming. Not grammatically correct but common.
