That's not rural, that's suburban. Look down your street, everyone's house is the same. You can spit on your neighbors house from your window, probably there is an HOA telling you how often to mow your lawn.
Your backyard is nice but neighborhoods like that with these are acre lots aren't what freedom looks like.
The correct word is subdivision.
A suburb is within a metropolis.
