I think that education on Bitcoin should primarily focus on its cryptographic & cypher-systemic underpinnings. Delving into the protocol's core code & all mechanisms that make it run.
How many know the difference between Legacy & SegWit?? How many do work on nodes & ASICs??
I agree. The push to jumpstart bitcoin as a global payment network before it was ready reeks of VC greed that tries to wring out every possible cent from a new technology so they can “exit” and repeat with something else. When they realized bitcoin wasn’t designed for them, they made their own versions to do exactly that, and we know what happened.
