Zeus is FOSS, phoenix(never used it) AFAIK is not. If it's not FOSS for me it's a no go zone.
Interesting reactions to the new fee structure from phoenix wallet.
So they no longer take a % on loading the channel, but charge a higher fee per tx.
It's a fair way to experiment with pricing.
I think it might seem a bit much to people who are sending small zaps, I didn't mind the 1 sat per tx fee, and I didn't mind paying the upfront loading fee.
Mathematically I have no idea how much difference it'd make between the two methods (I'm sure they crunched the numbers) but psychologically it might sting people a bit if they're sending 10 sat zaps and are paying a 40% charge to do so.
Personally I'm quite enjoying nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 wallet now with the nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfmextension - it was easier to set up than it looked following the instructions 😆
I'm going to continue to make use of phoenix because I like it, but I'll be using it less.
Discussion
I'm not technically experienced enough to be exclusively FOSS though I'm very in favour of it. Getting there, but by bit.
I like Phoenix, they've built an easy to use experience that removes a lot of the complexity that can put new comers off. Obviously it comes with trade offs but without the technical experience it's the way it is at the moment that people will experimentbwith various alternatives to get about their day.
