McAfee fried his brain with too much drugs. He also turned into a shitcoiner later on, started promoting Monero(obviously, since he was very into drugs) and hating on Bitcoin. He then made his own shitcoin called Ghost or whatever and scammed everyone. It's a shame, because the guy was insanely smart. Never do drugs kids.
