Our fig tree is greening out of the sticks it was just a month ago. Very green leaves and starting to form actual fruit. I think that if the deer don't eat everything, I will have enough figs to make a single fig newton.

We had 1 fig last year and it was stolen by a critter. Hoping for 2 or maybe even 3 figs this year.

yeah, this is the 3rd year of this tree for us. The first year, the deer stripped it down to the sticks. Last year, we got 3 figs, but I didnt pick them soon enough and they just fell off. So, I have high hopes this year 🤣

I'm curious to see if anything above ground survived winter here and how much it can grow in a year. Internet reports about final size and growth rate are varied to the point of being useless.

Here on Hatteras Island, they are many and do very well. We have a mild climate here. We did have our first snow in almost 10 years this winter, and all the fig trees are doing great. Someone down the street has a huge one that takes up a good part of their yard.
