Replying to Avatar Blockstream

Today marks the 6th anniversary of Bitcoin’s Independence Day.

SegWit separated signatures and transactions within BTC blocks, increasing Bitcoin’s block capacity without increasing its original block size limit. This ensured anyone, anywhere, could run a node and verify #Bitcoin.

Bitcoin was independent from the start. Independent from any one central entity.

What did we gain independence from?

It's only by coincidence segwit was involved in that
