Flying over that distance is probably better for the environment than driving. Planes use surprisingly little CO2 per passenger mile.
Indeed, the environmental issue with planes is mostly that they cause people to travel longer distances. But I'm mostly concerned about comfort and experience. It's a rather boring drive through mostly flat landscapes. Plus you have to deal with a zillion different incompatible toll systems (well at least in Poland).
