Shitposting aside, you are absolutely correct. The masses will never buy a phone and wipe it and install a custom OS. It's too many steps. Plus not everyone has access to a laptop or desktop computer. That's asking too much.

Have you tried the GrapheneOS web installer? It is magic! With a bit more UX polish could really push mass adoption.

not yet, and maybe everyone under 30 will figure it out no problem

but there’s a learning curve and there needs to be a reason to switch or commit to two phones

Without a little suffering we cannot evolve.

To mass offer ready to use "ethic" smartphones you need to full control the hardware, not so easy.

Perhaps a collaboration with Fairphone.
