There is no privacy for public servants in their official capacity because their services are associated with the public and funded by public resources. Conversely, private citizens have a right to privacy, as their personal activities and financial dealings are not conducted on behalf of the public. The distinction is important: public servants are accountable to the public, while private citizens are entitled to a degree of privacy in their personal lives.
