Why don’t they suck instead of blow.

No, that’s not an innuendo.

If leaf blowers sucked up and mulched leaves, wouldn’t that be better than just blowing them somewhere else?

I have one that sucks and mulches, or blows. I rarely use it cause it’s damn heavy and so noisy. Though I must say it does create amazing mulch.
