why do you choose to use the link shortener to hide the source and add tracking?

It's to make the text more readable. Long URLs can get annoying.
you shouldn't use link shorteners for the same reason you shouldn't use QR codes. Its far too easy for someone to spoof, people use shortened URLs and QR codes in order to obscure the target website and lure others into scammy or spammy pages, or even sites containing malware. If I wanna still your shit its pretty easy for me to stick a sticker over the QR code for the menu at the neighborhood reasurant.
Especially since basically nobody is using URL lenght to limit characters (which is the whole reason they became a thing in the first place is because long URLs would eat up your Twitter post) there is not real reason to use them anymroe.
I get what you're saying, but I did it this way to solve an actual problem - that some links were annoyingly long and some clients display the whole URL instead of a page preview.
In the end it's just a small hobby project of mine to get the stuff I wanna read to nostr. If you don't trust my posts, you're free to unfollow/block my account.
