I heard someone on some (not bitcoin) podcast that it’s a misconception to think most pro athletes from “back in the day” would crush today’s pros.

They gave a football example. I agree with that, today’s american football players are another level

However, be careful about generalizing here bc MICHAEL JORDAN is the literal GOAT 🐐 of basketball and i will die on this hill

100% agreed, don't touch MJ otherwise you right

Not one "back in the day" runner could run a 4 minute mile. (Okay, maaaaybe two, but now it's a yearly occurrence)

Jordan is the GOAT 🤝

The level of autism and psychopathy he had to better himself year after year is incredible

Dude, today’s soccer players have no idea of what a malicious tackle feels like.

As the game evolves, so do the players.

It depends on how you look at it. If we took former pros and placed them directly into today's game, they likely wouldn't be able to keep up. However, if those same players grew up in the same era and conditions as today's pros, they would likely compete at a high level.

Legends like Jordan and Gretzky might not dominate against today's athletes in a direct comparison. However, they are the reason current athletes have reached such heights. These icons elevated their respective sports, setting new standards and paving the way for future generations to be as good as they are.

Training has improved not the athletes

Imo.
