It's always the bottom of the tank where it starts to wear out first. Draining and flushing it every 6 months is in a bad idea either. Gets the gunk off the bottom that promotes the wear and lessons the bacteria count growing in your water tank. You also want a magnesium sacrificial rod in an electric tank not an aluminum one.
