The first Cashu NIPs have made it into the Nostr specifications!

Congrats to the devs 👏

* NIP-60 describes portable Cashu wallets that live inside nostr relays

* NIP-61 describes nutzaps, a new, instant way to zap users and events by posting ecash locked to their public key

Great job and thanks to all who contributed 🫶

Do any clients support nutzaps yet?

Can this work via the existing LN Address info in profiles or do profiles need expanding to better support nutzaps natively?

NostrDVM supports it :) (Probably not the kind of client you were asking for).

And of course https://nutsack.me/

Congratulations for sure, but what assurances do we have that more clients aren’t leaking private keys and potentially compromising users and their funds?

These two notes were posted less than one day apart.

Don’t put your cold storage in it; that’s not what it’s for.

And you can symmetrically encrypt with a pass phrase so that a client needs your explicit authorization beyond access to your nsec

Ultimately, as in anything that frees individuals, is up to each person to choose how to use the tools.

Well obviously, but if people’s first touchpoint with bitcoin is getting rugged, that’s a bad experience. It’s important to explicitly detail the risks.

Game changer.

This is an amazing step forward for Nostr
