There's a 1.5 inch gap between ceiling fan and ceiling. How the heck did he sleep at night

Cause there's a rod in the center that actually holds the fan up, that thing is just a sheath for the wiring. I could be wrong, you'll have to see once you cut it open like a Thanksgiving turkey.
