Ive been having the same thoughts and concerns - its not looking good and it's inherently anti-consumer moves these corpos are doing, as predictable as every bit of cyberpunk dystopian sci-fi has been suggesting for decades.

I just looked at a Samsung SATA SSD drive I bought at the end of 2023; it's doubled since. It will double again in the next 18 months with whatever supply is left. Glad I got one for my PS5 already. Do they dare stop making use 3.5 drives next?
I do fear they are going to stranglehold the consumer tech market - greedy economics make it that way by design, consumer hostility is just the unfortunate byproduct imo. R I P to tech hobbyists like myself and others here 🫡💀
