I believe most parents think they are doing the job better than their parents did. Even in an attempt to do better there are always underlying issues so ingrained in culture and society that its hard to even realize.

There was a also the unconscious behaviours learned that are automatically at play....if work is not done to be aware of them and break the pattern. We learn by imitation.
