I was made to feel like a crazy person for not wanting to go into a bar that scanned your ID. Personally, I think it’s the conditioning to get us accustomed to being surveilled wherever we go. Curious as to others’ thoughts.

The excuse will be convincing, like so they make sure you're over age but at the core, it's about tracking.
