I use signal for direct messaging. Is there downsides to it? Will nostr be the way we do direct messaging?

To be fair, Signal has it's place for IRL contacts who already have your phone number.

For example, it's realistic to upgrade your family to Signal as opposed to onboarding them to Matrix or Nostr for interfamily comms.
