I don't have the funds or connections to start a phone brand, but maybe I should make a list of problems I have with the devices available, and a leaderboard for what devices have important problems solved

How about this for the OS shortlist?

https://www.replicant.us/

Might be worthwhile 🤙

here's the device list for Replicant OS... i know you're averse to the sound hardware, but it really is the firmware that is the problem. Now if we could disable the firmware/hardware and construct an AI to feed false data to a mock firmware we could disrupt the input/output carrier wave 😜 [the matrix]

It's not really firmware that is the problem

I regard this as the opposite of iOS 👍

None of them are FOSS as far as I know

Seemingly nobody making an open source GPU for example

This project might be instructive to increasing security...

What it do?

it's getting into the nitty gritty of the baseband modem and stuff... apparently it can be used to set up your own mini cell phone network running on just an android phone. it was used at burning man festival, some island nation and other places... it shows how insecure the call routing really is!

Might be useful. Not sure how far the FCC will allow a manufacturer to take that in the US

the burning man festival mentioned that they did get a special use license...

Here's another good resource page...
