I don't see how to prevent this from happening eventually but a sentient AI dominating the world in just 3 years sounds more like marketing or begging for regulations than anything else.

On the other hand, the current upscaling of LLMs with huge data centers and new chips and probably new power plants scares me for other reasons. These tools might not be sentient but there are enough "sentient" psychopaths that might use these tools against whole populations. LLMs would allow you to harvest the social networks for likely wrong-thinkers and make their lives hell without much human intervention. And when they try to do anything about it, label them as terrorists and send some drones with face recognition to their cellphone coordinates. Well ... it's getting sci-fiy but it's not technologically impossible to do this today.

Agree. I think AI is a good, powerful tool that can greatly help humanity, but with everything, people can use good tools for bad acts. That's scary.

My guess is that greed will be paramount. And actors will use it to create an even bigger wealth divide.

I don't understand why some people would actively make others miserable in order to get ahead - of them. But this attitude exists and with LLMs you can cause a great deal of damage already.
