My son is contemplating college.

Unless you’re going into medicine, or law, or some other specialized field where school is the obvious runway, I’ve been imagining this instead:

1) Get a full time job at something that requires human engagement, and a part time job that’s fun and lightweight, also requiring human engagement.

2) Plan the experience you want to gain in the next 4 years while in your apprentice stage.

3) While doing these jobs, use LLMs to determine lists of knowledge and skills needed to excel at those jobs, and the next job types on your goal list.

4) Use LLMs to build curriculums of online knowledge resources and real world exercises to develop your required knowledge and skills.

5) Have LLMs quiz you to determine your mastery of those skills.

6) Have a mentor guide you in your structured plan. Have other experienced people in your life offer tips on what you should focus on next.

7) Rinse and Repeat. Know that by the time you are 27 you should be 3-5 years into a career that you are drawn to, inspired by, and skilled at. Maximize your earning potential for the next 10 years and save in bitcoin.

By this time, you would be so far ahead of starting at a 4 year college, and well ahead of the students your age coming out of college and starting as a zero.
