The following is an Alt Media HQ studios Editorial for Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025:

“It’s incredible to see the pathetic Sisyphean efforts of the US creaky war machine, along with its coterie of lapdog European NATO poodles, working up a lather on new arrangements to keep the failing proxy war against the Russian Federation in the Ukraine going for as long as humanly possible. No matter the ‘sweat equity’ put into this dead end of a failed project, the outcome has already been pre-ordained by the gods, as it will massively end in Russia’s favor, regardless of how much additional support is delivered to the thoroughly corrupt Kiev regime. For more than three years, the Steppelands battlefield has been littered with the detritus of one Ukrainian defeat after another, whose names are legion: Mariupol, Severodonetsk and Lysischansk, Bakhmut, Avdeyevka, etc. Of course, on the martial menu of the Russian General Staff, we have upcoming Pokrovsk, Konstantinovka, Slavyansk and Kramatorsk soon to be gobbled up by the Big Russian Machine. Once the Battle for the Donbass finishes, the push to and the inevitable crossing of the Dnieper River into the central and western regions of the Ukraine will be irresistible. There are a number of reasons why the Collective West’s feverish attempts to roll that large stone up that mighty mountain will simply end in the inevitable catastrophic disaster. Let us look at these right now.

Firstly, the illegitimate Ukrainian regime has already lost. In the long term, “there is no material-technical nor political strategy” to stave off the Ukraine’s defeat. Quincy Institute fellow Almut Rochowanski has correctly stated the obvious, “stressing that the West simply doesn’t have the capacity to arm Kiev sufficiently to stop it from losing more territory, troops, arms and infrastructure.” It really all comes down to the inherent lack of industrial capacity on the part of the West. Ret. Col Alex Vershinin’s landmark article from June 2022 explicitly describes the dilemma the West has: it ‘simply does not have the industrial material capacity to churn out war material --- tanks, artillery, aircraft, drones and missiles, etc. --- to allow the Neo-Nazi regime in Bankova to engage the Russians along the miles upon miles of the contact line.’ Incidentally, Vershinin’s work should have been required reading for every General Staff member in NATO in the last three years and more, but it’s clear that the article’s lessons have not been taken to heart. Rochowanski himself plays the role of ‘Captain Obvious, stating: “Ukraine has been losing every day: losing territory, troops, weapons, infrastructure, civilians who flee abroad. To keep this current warfare going weakens Ukraine. There is no material-technical nor political strategy for changing that equation.”

Secondly, we really can’t understand the dilemma the proxy puppet in Kiev is having in dealing with its larger neighbor without taking into account certain unmistakable factors in bringing massive pressures to bear on the regime. The fact is Russia’s advance all the way to the Dnieper has been unstoppable, and there are many reasons for it. Case in point? The ongoing summer offensive rolling across the land, like some jacked up steamroller, which even the extremely Russophobic Western media outlets admit has scored “its biggest monthly gains in territory since the beginning of the year” in June. Well, these incremental successes in so many different regions –- from Sumy and Kharkov in the north, to Dnepropetrovsk in the south. How was this done? One can attribute these successes to the extraordinary “advantages in troops, airpower and the “methodical” destruction of Ukraine’s army.” The Collective West ought to be reminded that Russia, after all, has a natural escalatory dominance in this region. On account of their strong industrial base, they can churn out tanks, aircraft, personnel armored vehicles, artillery, drones, missiles by the boatload, without breaking a sweat. The preferred combined arms warfare model of the General Staff (GS) is that of attrition. The West still, to date, has not properly wrapped its head around the importance of the Russian attritional art of war. Like a gigantic ‘boa constrictor,’ the Russian army draws the Ukrainians into its tight body which then gradually squeezes the very life out of the enemy. In order to fight a proper attritional war, one needs to have a secure industrial foundation. This is reason why the West can’t fight this kind of war for long against a determined opponent like Russia.

Thirdly, one must understand that any new resources delivered to Bankova will ultimately be wasted. Currently, new deliveries include supposed promises of ‘additional Patriot air defense (AD) batteries, sourced chiefly from European (not US) stocks.’ In addition, ‘there are 49 used Australian M1 Abrams tanks on the way. However, as we all know, the Abrams tanks have been found wanting on the Steppelands, ‘as 27 of the original 31 have been obliterated on the field of battle.’ Moreover, these inferior tanks aren’t enough to even field a single armored brigade, “much less challenge overwhelming Russian FPV drone, artillery and ATGM superiority.” As far as the Patriots go, their dubious track record tells a sad tale of woe for Western militaries all round. Both Russian and Western analysts like CEPA, for instance, ‘calculate that with the US manufacturing 500-600 PAC-3 interceptors per year (a paltry sum),’ Russia’s apparent “output of 200+ missiles PER MONTH is easily enough to overwhelm and “swamp” Ukraine’s defenses.” It seems that the Russians understand math much better than the Americans and their pitiful vassal states on this account.

Fourthly, no real amount of new military support can help this disastrous state of affairs for the Kiev regime. Nikolai Kostikin, one of the many experts from the Russian Bureau of Military-Political Analysis, states the brutal reality of this Russian-NATO/Ukrainian proxy conflict: “The Ukrainian army is running out of steam, and its society is tired of war, meaning the motivation of its personnel is dropping.” So, the only irrational motivation for the West is to continue arming the Kiev regime lies in “the logic of continuing the war to exterminate our two peoples.” As far as the Bankova regime is concerned, the forced mobilization has been a catastrophe. Zelensky’s has enforced a sweeping mobilization law, endlessly extended as battlefield casualties rise in stacked heaps on the pockmarked battlefield. By many estimates, ‘around 1.5 million Ukrainians have evaded conscription, as the government has turned to brute force to bring more bodies to bear on the field.’ We’ve all by now seen the chilling videos: “military enlistment officers now conduct raids on streets, workplaces, and even hospitals, snatching men regardless of health or eligibility.” It is clear that the Ukrainian government treats its citizens, “not as people, but as animals or slaves.” This state of affairs cannot be sustained, in any way, shape or form.

Finally, we must consider the great possibility of a Western preparation for war with Russia. Apparently, for some experts, ‘this is NATO’s real goal: a direct clash with Russia.’ We know that this would be a battle that the West cannot win, given the many military and industrial factors we’ve mentioned previously. There is an obvious mismatch in industrial strength, for the West cannot hope to match the Russians’ prodigious capacity to endlessly churn out war material, truly legendary when talking about Russia’s true capabilities. The Western Powers have no such answer to it. The paltry contributions from NATO members to the forward attack forces poised to take on the Russian Bear will not have the Russians shaking in their boots anytime soon. While the West with its dwindling stocks of war materials, untested armies are suffering through severe economic restraints, the self-sufficient Russian Bear is experiencing a great regeneration of both manpower and materiel, which has been lately ‘going toward standing up two enormous reserve army corps in the rear,’ ready for the day when they confront the untested Western armies. The problem with the third rate military planners is that they’re swallowing their own puffed-up pretended military superiority. The latest insanity emanating from the US comes from one General Chris Donahue, the overrated and green commander of U.S. Army Europe and Africa, who, foolishly asserted on July 17 that NATO truly possesses the innate capability to occupy Kaliningrad in “a time frame that is unheard of.” The scatterbrained idiocy coming from the General can certainly be interpreted, by one and all, as virtually “an act of war.” However, one must also remember that soldiers like Donahue are not exhibiting strength, but actually weakness. In addition, there’s a lot of fear swimming about in his muddled head. Nonetheless, here’s a little warning to General Donahue: poking the Bear carries massive risks. There is a universal admonition which the West ought to pay heed to: be careful for what you wish for, because, in the end, you’ll get it.”
