There are community chat rooms and community boards for various topics on Nostr.

No communities can form, and the result is an amorphous blob of users who mostly just say "zap" and "pura vida" all day while pretending they're going to make an alternate economy (which, in reality, is mostly just used for tipping e-whores).

That irks me as well. Too many ponzi schemers here. But not all boards and chat rooms are like that. You can find ones that talk about other topics.
