Austism was extremely rare / virtually non existent before mandatory childhood vaccines became widespread.
Thankfully, more and more people have been waking up since COVID, as they are looking at the actual data rather than blindly trusting the science 
Could this have to do with the higher likelihood of diagnoses because of screening and early care?
Look into historic records pre-1940. There are virtually zero mentions of autism, and when it is mentioned, it describes something closer to schizophrenia than what we today diagnose as autism.
The evidence is clear. That said, DYOR. Don’t trust. Verify.
Haha I have many kids and none of them are vaccinated. I am not quite convinced it causes autism but I don’t think they’re good. I am more convinced that acetaminophen and micro plastics are causing autism. Vaccines are a red herring.

Would also point out that if the uptick in autism is purely due to more early detection, it should not continue to rise post modern medicine. Yet every year it ticks up as the number of mandated childhood vaccines increase, even since the 2,000s
I’m of the increasing opinion that autism is an immune response to decades of over-socialization and free-floating stress.
There have been a number of confirmed cases of “overnight autism” happening the day after vaccination. Yet there are no confirmed cases of kids developing autism the day before vaccination.

Watched a good keynote from the same scientist who has been studying male fertility for the past ~40yrs that found sperm counts to be rapidly lowering and her investigation seems to suggest it's microplastics, among other factors, that are also contributing to autism. Plastics, while revolutionary, seem to be polluting the world like crazy.
There are certainly a number of factors involved. Agreed.
The best rule of thumb for health is to follow the way of the ancestors. Get sunshine, exercise, fresh air, clean water, quality meat, fruits, etc, and to avoid anything developed within the recent fiat era, especially post 1971, as much as possible.
