What is the point of anonymous e-sims and stuff like that when each phone has an (to my knowledge) unchangeable IMEI associated with it?
I could just be miss understanding this but from knowledge that is what the government tracks.

Good question. One work around is to have say a Pixel with Graphene and a mobile hotspot (like a privacy focused one from Calyx). When you’re mobile, have the hotspot connect to the towers and phone to the hotspot, that way the phone IMEI isn’t directly exposed to the towers.
I have been thinking of switching over to Graphene for awhile now. I just need to stop being lazy about it.
From my 5 minutes of googling it seams that even with mobile data turned of your phone still responds to pings from cell tower.
I know security isn't easy but I kinda wish their was an easier solution so I can onboard the wife.
