i attended a wedding reception last night. it felt like every detail was a post from pinterest or maybe instagram.
i could almost see @username on each item or idea hovering over it.

It's all about what is trending on the socials these days. I notice how events like that are all so simila. Copy paste whatever the algo feeds you. ☹️☹️
Had a similar experience recently, except it was the people. The toasts were all about high school shenanigans...the couple was 30, so out of school 10+ years. A few shared memories I can understand, but it was like they graduated 6 months ago.
🤷♀️ I'm old people, so it was odd for me since other than my husband I talk to one person from school.
it did feel like i had already seen it many times before. the photos they shared on a screen had a tint of unoriginality to it.
it worries me that my unconscious consumption of media is what's making it seem less creative. my mom who isn't as exposed thought the ideas were so great & i was meh about all of it.
Husband says it's all formulaic and if it doesn't happen online it isn't real to them. It all feels like it's just to get likes on the internet instead of enjoying the moment. Addicts don't think they're addicted...
I think that all we can do is try to break away from it as much as possible and keep the kids away from it as long as possible.
