I suspect the philosophy of Plato, Augustine and Kant is more to blame than the scientific prowess of Edison or the industrial expertise of Rockefeller and Ford.

That's why I wrote "means" rather than simply "technology". Socialism and progressivism have done a lot to corral and enslave the sheeple.
