IDK what to say, but I think one more thing considering it’s a part of fiat culture is music industry.

When I was a child, in Thailand, without the internet, I usually listened to various radio songs, both local and inter, and started to realized that the music I’ve heard, esp. Thai songs, when I’m in elementary school are not different with what I’ve heard when I’m in high school, and many song I’ve heard nowadays are still the same vibe as when I was a kid, like a love song, brokenhearted, or somethings that involved with the word “love” btw male and female and it’s a general POP genre. I’ve wondered is there’s some music that are not about “love” content but it was impossible to find it.

Although the internet brought an option to user to be on ur own to find and listen what u like, but if u don’t know how to search it like keyword or artist name, u won’t find it but with the search engine algorithm will make you will find only the currently popular song that u don’t have to search it by the way cuz can hear so many of them anywhere from ur friend, local market, or the mall. Besides, the tone and genre of many songs are still the same compare to when I was a kid, like It was a copy of the old song only just change the lyrics they sang.

And when many people listened to the song with the same genre and same vibe for a long time, they’ll think the good song must has to be like this, the same vibe, same genre, has to be string song or Korean song, that are played in the radio or usually played at various places. I have so many friend be like this and when I played some song I think it’s pretty good, the reaction I get is somewhat annoying face and it make me feels like I’m cringe af.

Not only just the music I’ve said, but there’re so many things that shape people to think and do like “it must has to be this way” such as in Thai there’re so many family which push their children to be a doctor ,or dentist like me, but they don’t ask their kids seriously what you want to be in the future at all or they’ve asked but they just rejected whatever the answer be, like if u r not a doctor u r shithead af, “see!, u such a failure! that house next-door has two kids passed the exam for doctor”

No “It must not have to be this way!”

Great thought and great note. I felt the same way as you did. But luckily 20 years ago I found out about this Morpheus web app that you can browse and download (illegally, of course) random music from anywhere in the world. My playlist grew enormously then with more "indie" stuff.

But the pop genre is called "pop" for a reason as they are not required much sophisticated skill and effort to enjoy. So its mainstay throughout many decades make sense. The thing I hated about most pop songs is that many lyrics and themes tend to create this "simps" cult of a weak men. Many songs tried to make you feel like you must worship love and sacrifice everything for it. When in reality, healthy relationship requires hard work from both sides. High quality men and women know what they bring to the table to make meaningful lovelife. This issue is what most songs don't dare to touch.
