They're not dumb. So maybe ask yourself... What amI missing in my thinking? Why would they mine instead of just buying?

In my thinking... If you can mine your own transactions into the Bitcoin blockchain you're completely sovereign.

I guess completely sovereign might be too strong as you still need to be able to protect your access to energy and your buildings,miners, etc.
