For a long time I suspected Pfizer was paying off the psychiatrist I saw around 2014 to heavily push pregabalin (Lyrica). At the time the drug was patented by Pfizer, of course.
Couple days ago I mentioned this suspicion to another experienced psychiatrist. The response? "It could easily be, yeah, it sounds like it, I wouldn't be surprised, it happens a lot."
At the time I was assured that pregabalin was totally safe, non-addictive, and had no serious side effects. As you can probably guess, none of those things were true. In fact this was one of the drugs involved in Pfizer's $2 billion fine for deceptive marketing.
But remember kids, if you distrust the almighty word of the morally upstanding Pfizer when it comes to another of their highly profitable drugs they lied about, you are a crazy conspiracy theorist.
