Energy consumption does not equal environmental pollution or negative environmental impact.

Energy consumption is good for societies. The more energy consumed the greater the abundance and flourishing for that society.

The means of energy generation, transportation and storage is what needs to be measured, scrutinized/tested and monitored.

That will lead to less warping of society's perception of energy use in general and lead to greater discoveries and efficiencies. Nature (natural law) is the only law we need to base human principles and laws on as it cannot be gamed. Start with physics, then build up and innovate.
