One of my favourite speeches I always amke my students watch is the same idea... it is a commencement speech by Steve Jobs... https://youtu.be/Hd_ptbiPoXM and he tells the story of dropping out of the requilsite college classes so he could begin "dropping in" to the classes and things he actually wanted.

One was calligraphy. Which years later he remembered and used to design the first Apple font.

Love the idea of just focusing on what you like and how you want the world to look, and to block out the noise.

Highly recommend this speech to anyone.
