In your opinion / knowledge, what separates Nostr from Blue Sky or Mastodon?
I am putting together a chart to show the difference, and want to make sure I did not get anything wrong.

It’s more fun. I’m biased though, I’ve never used the other services.
I have used blue sky very briefly and mastodon briefly and can confirm nostr is way more fun
In mastodon your identity is not truly owned by you; it belongs to the person running the instance. ECC makes all the difference.
that's what I thought. isn't it the same in blue sky?
Haven’t had enough interest to really inspect it, tbh

bsky is not open source right? and they control your account pretty much?

DISADVANTAGES:
User Learning Curve
Centralized Platform Features
ADV are overwhelming than DISADV
On a protocol level:
Identity - public keys vs URLs
Network topology - clients and relays vs servers
Data format - Nostr events vs ActivityStreams objects
On a people/reality level:
ActivityPub is way larger
Nostr has money built into the tech, and ActivityPub is very resistant to it
Nostr is young, ActivityPub is old and based on something even older
Nostr has jack and snowden. ActivityPub bullied Will Wheaton off the protocol
Wow. I hadn’t heard that Wil Wheaton was bullied off Mastadon.
Here’s his blog post if you haven’t read it yet.
I wonder if he could be convinced that Nostr is that “smaller community that was more like Twitter was way back in 2008 or 2009. Cat pictures! Jokes! Links to interesting things that we found in the backwaters of the internet! Interaction with friends we just haven’t met, yet!”
nostr:npub164q45vfa8prpl7f63stsl9qm9n22v6julkasjdqxjc8kevchsj0sp42rl3 you were asking about left-leaning non-bitcoiners to get on your podcast. You should go after Wil Wheaton.
The reason he left Twitter is because they *didn't* kick off Alex Jones yet. I'm not sure he's ready to accept a world that contains people he doesn't like. Little Wesley Crusher still has some growing up to do.
That being said, I'd be happy for him to join us.
I’d like to think Wil learned a valuable lesson that if Alex Jones can get kicked off of Twitter, maybe Wil Wheaton can get kicked off of Mastadon. Besides, that wasn’t really his complaint anyway. He doesn’t say it outright, but it’s clear his real issue is with the Twitter algorithm, to which I think we can all relate.
And please give up on the “Little Wesley Crusher” crap. That’s so ‘90s, and not the nostalgic kind. If you’ve read his blog, you’ll see he’s “grown up” into an amazing human being.
I'll take your word for it that he is a great guy. Everybody should be reading my denigration of Wil for what it is - the pointing out of a common human flaw, not an attack on a person I do not know.
If I feel like denigrating someone, I'm gonna. Based on that blog post, he deserved it. I don't know him from Adam except from Star Trek so that why I made the reference. The fact is that anybody who cannot accept that the world has all kinds of people in it, and wants to magically disappear all the people they hate, hasn't grown up. It's a widespread problem.
he should join #nostr
For my #nostr has all the good that the others lack (security, privacy, decentralization, etc.)
But it lacks the most important thing: audience, expansion and users.
You can’t be censored
You own and control your account, so you cannot be globally banned, and you cannot lose your followers.
Developed in the open with a large choice of software to choose from.
Fully distributed with no central anything - no central software, no central servers, no website, no seeds, nothing.
Twitter: Breaking Mainstream news: PR for tsla spacex starlink, trying to id as the acceptable rightwing platform, wants to be the amazon of communication. Moderation by fed entities on certain trending topics
Bluesky: GenX complaints about politics, trying to scale up to be the Progressive Platform, recreate oldregime titter. Slacker Whiner WesAnderson "Moderation" for users who dont feel "safe"
,Alarge contingent of furries oddly
Mastadon: no clue, heard its extreme version of bluesky idk
TF is bluesky? meh
