For the avocado to grow fruits you need a male and a female plant to pollinate. If you just grow the seed youll get a beautiful plant but not one that carries fruit.

Its a bummer. You can always figure out from the fruit itself which sex it is look for a male and female avocado in the store and im sure there some bees around, even in yokohama. :))
