Hi #nostrplebs do you use web clients? Whom do you entrust with your private key?
Discussion
Use signers like nos2x or alby to not entrust your nsec with anybody.
satellite.earth and primal.net are the goats as desktop client and pwa
Hmm, my nsec was generated by damus, does that mean I've already failed?
I don't know any other methods to generate nsec if not by clients.

None!
Use Alby or Nos2x by fiatjaf for Chrome/Firefox.
I think it utilizes NIP-07 to sign for events 😊

Got it. It would be helpful if sites like iris gave that hint. The first thing I see there is "Private key access" -> "paste a private key"
Hmm yeah you might have a point, I think the main worry is that people would be turned off from browsing any further if they had to go to the length of installing an extension etc. Same time though the extension pretty much makes ALL of nostr on the web well... do-able to me.
Every Nostr website that requires you to login should have a NIP-07/Extension button clearly on the side to make the onboarding process more seamless to the more popular clients perhaps.
