Naveen Jindal reacts to coal scam charges after getting BJP ticket: 'We are a simple family'

Industrialist Naveen Jindal, who recently quit the Congress and got the BJP ticket to contest from the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency, addressed the coal scam charges against him. He stated that his family comes from a simple background and has contributed a lot to the country. Jindal mentioned that his father and brothers have generated employment in factories and paid crores and lakhs in taxes over the last 20 years. He expressed confidence in the judiciary and stated that truth will prevail. Naveen Jindal represented the Kurukshetra constituency as a Congress MP from 2004 to 2014. He resigned from the Congress and joined the BJP. Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary, commented on Jindal's resignation, stating that it was expected and that Jindal needed a "giant-size washing machine." Jindal's mother, Savitri Jindal, also quit the Congress and joined the BJP. She was named the richest woman in the country by Forbes India.
