The perspective in the image is distorted. In SF you can typically go a few blocks over and find a less intimidating path. There are ways around the crazy hills.
I’ve also personally witnessed someone bomb a crazy hill on a fixie using their foot as a break. I’m convinced it was a suicide attempt. However he did the maneuver perfectly without loss of life or limb.
They must’ve have been so disappointed in themselves 😜

Actually he looked really proud of himself. I think he thought he turned a lot of ladies on with that stunt. Most of us I think were actually thinking, stupid hipster.
