At a certain size every system takes on a life of its own. The problem with centralized systems is that changes in those system are in a sense too easy, and that means once bad people get power in those systems, the system itself becomes evil.
The virtue of decentralized systems is that it doesn't have this vulnerability.
No one could game a decentralized system.
