"Live Not By Lies" is an essay written by the Russian dissident Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, published in 1974, just before he was exiled from the Soviet Union. In this essay, Solzhenitsyn criticizes the dishonesty and corruption of the Soviet regime and urges his fellow citizens not to support the system through passive compliance. He advocates for the power of individuals to resist the lies of a totalitarian regime by not participating in them. Solzhenitsyn emphasizes the importance of truth, integrity, and personal responsibility, arguing that the refusal to live a lie is a fundamental step in undermining an oppressive system. The essay is widely regarded as a powerful statement on the moral responsibility of individuals under a repressive regime.

Rod Dreher has a book with the same title that is very good. He references Solzhenitsyn a lot in that book. More people need to learn about Solzhenitsyn to recognize the evil going on around us.
