What are your recommendations for privacy phones and mobile OS’s?

I keep coming back to Graphene but want to hear thoughts on others

Clayxos feels like a happy medium. Removes all the tracking but you can still run microG so all your apps that need google play services still work.

Yeah ClayxOs keeps coming up too 🤙

Graphene is the top for privacy OS. Calyx is second alternative. If your device doesn't fully support those you can try Lineage OS. Better than bloated stock OS.

Solid list… always same two 1st 2nd

I’ll read around Lineage that’s new to me

Got a feeling I should just pick my pixel and get on with it 👌

Before getting a pixel with calyxos, i used a moto g8 with lineageOS. It was pretty good but you couldn't lock the bootloader after reflashing which is a bit of a security issue. With the pixel the best part is you can relock it after flashing custom os.

How do you re-lock?

Does that get rid of the weird bootloader screen?

I followed this: https://www.paulligocki.com/installing-calyxos-on-the-google-pixel-6a/#Re-Lock-Boot-Loader

There is still a weird boot screen saying the phone is using a different OS.

Note that locking the boot loader will wipe your data if you already used it.

Do you know if it is possible to have a dual boot privacy phone?

I’m going the Graphene root today but would love to compare it to a Calyx

I've not seen that option anywhere. I'd also love to try that.

Yup. Graphene has the best security design currently. However, it need Google Pixel which unfortunately is very costly especially for developing and third-world countries :)

Therefore, Lineage OS is quite popular for users on those countries. Lineage OS support many devices. Although, doesn't offer fully similar features like Graphene it is quite enough.

The fact Lineage is hardware neutral deserves massive respect

Complete freedom in hardware and software 👌

I’d love to see the rise of open source hardware too

Yup, they totally get my respect for dedication to support many devices. Although, having limited devs to handle that. Proud works 🙂
